CELINE & CHARISE taking chances world tour

I wonder if you could still call Celine and Charice’s performance a duet. After all, Celine gave her stage generously to Charice and the latter delivered! Celine invited Charice to perform the song “Because You Loved Me” for the Madison Square Garden leg of her “Taking Chances” Concert Tour. The Filipina singer flew all the way to New York (from Edmonton, Canada?) to fulfill a dream to sing with her idol on September 15 (NYT). I loved to watch of their performance several times. The 16-year old girl gave me goosebumps especially at the beginning of her song. I could feel how much she’s dedicating it to her mother.

I’m so happy for Charice not because she’s a Filipina, but because of what she’d gone through and for the doors that have been opened for her. She’s an inspiration - PERIOD!

Here’s the full 10-minute video of Charice’s dream fulfilled - a duet with the generous Celine Dion who gave her stage to a fan..

PURPOSE OF LIFE

Purpose of Life
Finding the meaning of your life

A life without a purpose is, well, pointless, and yet we give amazingly little thought to what our purpose is.

If someone were to ask you, "What is the purpose of your life?" how would you answer? It's not an easy question.

The harder one thinks about it, the worse it can get.

You might have a desire to have a family, for example. So you have children, and they have children, and so forth and so on, and then what? If individual lives have no meaning, why would making more of them add meaning?

You might see your life-purpose in terms of serving others. That sounds noble (and indeed, I think it is), but if individual lives have no meaning by themselves, then why would serving others add meaning?

Where does meaning come from?

We know, in our hearts, that such things as having a family or serving others are meaningful activities. We recognize this without trying, even if we can't say why.

Somehow we know that loving other people is a good thing, a meaningful thing. Why? Because that's what God made us to do. Something in us knows that, even if we're not so sure about the God part.

Loving people is a good thing for us to do because that's what God designed us to do. That, and to love Him too.

Man's purpose - the purpose for which God made us - is to love God and love one another.

That sounds good, and it is. It may also sound easy, but it isn't.

There is something in us that rebels, something in us that doesn't always want to do what we know is right.

Loving others means putting their needs ahead of ours.

That's not easy to do: it can feel like losing rather than loving. We're afraid that we won't get our needs met.

Being selfish sometimes feels like a better alternative, and sometimes we choose it. Actually, pretty often we choose it.

God's purpose for man is not trivial, and we're not nearly as close to fulfilling it as we'd like to think.

We all think that we're loving people, but all those people who you see being selfish . . . they think they're loving people too. It's so much easier to see someone else's selfishness than to see our own.

But loving others is what we were intended for, and, consequently, it is what brings us and those around us the most joy and peace and, not surprisingly, the most meaningful lives.

Loving God should be easier than loving others but we're no better at it.

Loving God requires that we love the truth, and we don't always want to do that. The truth about ourselves isn't always pleasing, and we'd rather avoid it.

Distorting the truth - sometimes a little, sometimes a lot - often seems like a better alternative than putting the truth above ourselves.

Sometimes we want to look good more than we want to be completely truthful.

We want to look good; we want to be first. Yet neither of those brings us lasting joy.

We settle for the momentary puffing up of our egos, missing the meaning of our lives altogether.

Living up to God's purpose for us is both desirable and impossible, unless God helps us to do it. The good news is that He will - if we're willing.

The First ThinG ! ! !

Praising God - The First Thing!
Do you know that praising God is the best thing to do first before anything else? Have you ever been in a situation that you feel all alone? Or have you encountered a difficult situation in your life and you don't know what to do, like losing your job or suffering the loss of someone very close to your heart? Consider the good times such as when you receive a raise from your boss or earn high marks at school? What do you usually do during these moments? Praising God makes every circumstance of our lives complete, essential, and eminently worthwhile.

Webster defines the word praise as to say good things about and it is synonymous to words such as admire, commend, extol, honor, and worship. A definition of Christian praise is the joyful thanking and adoring of God, the celebration of His goodness and grace.1 This simply implies that the act of praising is rightfully due to God alone.

Praising God - How to Praise and Worship God
How is praising God possible? Singing songs and hymns, clapping our hands, even jumping for joy…the list is endless. We can give glory and praise to our God with the use of our physical bodies, with our hearts and minds, and with our deeds. There are many ways to praise God! No matter how you praise and worship God, it should result in an awe of God's power, love, and grace for all of us!

....beiNg a NURsE..

Being a nurse means ...

You will never be bored.

You will always be frustrated.

You will be surrounded by challenges.

So much to do and so little time.

You will carry immense responsibility

and very little authority.

You will step into people's lives --

and you will make a difference.

Some will bless you.

Some will curse you.

You will see people at their worst --

and at their best.

You will never cease to be amazed

at people's capacity for

love, courage, and endurance.

You will see life begin ...

and end.

You will experience resounding triumphs

and devastating failures.

You will cry a lot.

You will laugh a lot.

You will know what it is to be human

and to be humane.

Sometimes history is made by the force of arms on battlefields, sometimes by the fall of an exhausted empire. But often when historians set about figuring why a nation took one course rather than another, they are most interested in who said what to whom at a meeting far from the public eye whose true significance may have been missed even by those who took part in it.
WIESBADEN, Germany - It's been seven years since the images of airplanes smashing into the World Trade Center and the Pentagon were seared into our memories. Seven years since the world changed dramatically - especially for those who have grown up in the wake of 9-11.

For military families, Sept. 11, 2001, signaled the start of a never-ending series of deployments, family separations, and friends and loved ones sometimes lost.

Unlike past wars, though, where the entire nation was mobilized to support a war effort to battle a common foe through massive involvement by all segments of our society, the Global War on Terrorism has meant only a minority of Americans being called to travel to faraway lands to fight an elusive enemy that lurks mostly in the shadows, often indistinguishable from the general population.

While this war has continued - sometimes forgotten by the majority of Americans who have gone about their daily lives far from the frontlines - government organizations such as Homeland Security, which sprang up as a result of 9-11, and U.S. citizens across the nation have faced natural disasters such as Hurricanes Katrina and Gustav, Tropical Storm Hanna, wildfires and other life-altering events.

For those who can recall a time when entire nations battled furiously around the globe, when populations were decimated, villages annihilated and cities razed to the ground during two world wars - and a time when Americans were divided as a nation by an unpopular war in Vietnam, not sure even whether to call it a conflict or a war - the Global War on Terrorism may seem less significant in comparison.

But for those who have been in the middle of the fray, who have dedicated their lives to trying to make a change in places where intolerance, brutality and fear have long ruled, who have risked injury and even death because for the greater good of all Americans - the Global War on Terrorism is anything but insignificant.

heart to heart with God

Today I have to say that I had a great day today. If you count the earthquake out then it's cool. I still look at it as a great day. The Lord is still letting me live. I want to say what I have learned from HIM. Hopefully you will be blessed by what you read. I learned today from HIM is that He planted a zeal in my heart to enjoy HIS PRESENCE. I love to hear that. HE said the HE is always walking with me and talking with me. HE said that HE needs me to accomplish HIS will. I never will be left out because of that. HE needs me and I need HIM the most. HE said that I should not want what those people who look like they are rich, but are not. HE told me that because the people who do things out of MY Will, will loose it. HE said that it will be shown that they need the Lord. I learned that an accomplishment is not one if you do not do it by the Lord's Will. If the Lord did not help, it's nothing. I learned that HE has to be my source for everything. I have to not lean to my own understanding. I have to listen to HIM in order for things to go right. I learned that it's not job to save my own life. It's the Lord's job to save me. HE decides who will be saved. If I die right not I would not die. I would live in Spirit with the Lord. The Lord already conquered death. HE said I will still live. If I try to save my own life. I will loose it. The last thing i learned is that I should look ahead to HIM. I should not look back at what I did. I should look towards HIM and see the reward. I should always look to HIM and everything will be great. That's what I learned from the Lord today. I thank the Lord for giving me wisdom so I can live like HIM. i thank HIM for bringing me comfort when I needed it. I had no one else around me. Only the Lord. I could of called my friends, but it might of turned out that he or she might be doing thins. GOD did command that we should not have any ideas before HIM. So I trust the Lord to bring me comfort because HE is always available. HE is always available because HE never sleeps. HE never sleeps because HE is making sure the things are perfect for you and me.

how great is our God

The splendor of a King,
Clothed in majesty
Let all the earth rejoice,
All the earth rejoice
He wraps himself in light,
And darkness tries to hide
And trembles at his voice,
And trembles at his voice

CHORUS(1):
How great is our God,
sing with me
How great is our God,
and all will see
How great, How great
Is our God

VERSE(2):
Age to age he stands
And time is in His Hands
Beginning and the End,
Beginning and the End
The Godhead, Three in one
Father, Spirit, Son
The Lion and the Lamb,
The Lion and the Lamb

CHORUS(1):
How great is our God,
sing with me
How great is our God,
and all will see
How great, How great
Is our God

CHORUS(2)
Name above all names
You are Worthy of all praise
and My heart will sing how great
Is our God
(x2)

CHORUS(1):
How great is our God,
Sing with me
How great is our God,
and all will see
How great, How great
Is our God

CHORUS(1):
How great is our God,
Sing with me
How great is our God,
and all will see
How great, How great
Is our God
